Bali Visa Updates 2026: What Every Foreigner Needs to Know

If you're planning to visit or stay in Bali in 2026, there are several important visa and immigration changes you should be aware of. Here's a quick summary from Smart Visa Bali.

1. Visa Extensions Now Require an In-Person Visit

As of June 2026, all foreigners must visit their local immigration office in person to extend any visa or stay permit. Online-only extensions are no longer accepted.

2. All Indonesia Arrival Card is Now Mandatory

Since September 2025, all visitors must complete a digital arrival card online - up to 72 hours before arrival. This replaces the old paper customs and health forms.

3. Bank Statement Requirement for Tourists

Bali is introducing a requirement for tourists to show 3 months of bank statements proving sufficient funds upon arrival. Make sure you're prepared before you fly.

4. Digital Nomad Visa (E33G) - For Remote Workers

Indonesia has a dedicated visa for remote workers. The E33G visa allows foreigners to legally live and work in Bali for a foreign-based company, with an income requirement of around $60,000 per year.

5. Stricter Immigration Enforcement

Bali immigration authorities have increased surveillance across the island. Overstaying your visa can result in fines, detention, or deportation.
